Ceud Mìle Fàilte!
The roots of Clan MacLaren trace into antiquity, long before surnames were used in Scotland. The patronymic derives from Labhran, Gaelic equivalent of Laurence -- the Abbot of Achtow in Balquhidder who lived in the early part of the 13th century. Time and history have conspired to produce a multitude of spelling variations to confound the efforts of researchers.
This site is devoted the compiled research of members of the Clan MacLaren Society and the Clan MacLaren Society of North America as well as that of independent contributors and the original research of the Genealogists of the two Societies.
